Several methods of distinguishing thin film resistance from thick film resistance

Thin film resistors and thick film resistors are commonly used resistors. Thin film resistors are the mainstream precision resistors for patch. How to distinguish these two resistors?

1. According to the film thickness

The film thickness of thick film resistors is generally larger than 10μm, the film thickness of thin films is less than 10μm, and most of them are less than 1μm.

2. According to the manufacturing process

Screen printing process generally adopts thick film resistance, film resistance adopts vacuum evaporation, magnetron sputtering and other process methods.

3. According to accuracy

Thick film resistance general accuracy is not high, more than 1%.5%.10%, etc., film resistance can reach 0.01% accuracy, 0.1% accuracy, etc.

4. According to the temperature coefficient

The temperature coefficients of thick film resistors are difficult to control and are generally large, but film resistors can reach very low temperature coefficients, such as 5PPM/ ° C and 10PPM/ ° C. Therefore, the resistance value changes very little with temperature, and the resistance value is stable and reliable. Therefore, compared with thick film resistance, the price will be more expensive. Therefore, when the temperature coefficient and accuracy requirements are high, if the resistance of the thick film process is generally required, then the resistance of the film process should be used.
